NX Machinery Library Installation

Overview

The Machinery Library in NX is a collection of pre-designed standard family-based parts that can be used in the design and assembly of machinery. It includes commonly used components such as nuts, bolts, washers, gears, bearings, shafts, and other mechanical components.

The library provides designers with a quick and easy way to add standard components to their designs, without having to create them from scratch.


Prerequisites

• Download the latest Machinery Library install tool zip file.
• Download the required Library zip files from the support center.
• After downloading. Extract the Machinery library zip file to a specific folder.
• Copy the library Zip files
• Paste them in Libs folder
• If needed. Edit the property file to configure the layer category [MachineryLibrary- utilities.def].
• For example: if you want to change the layer category for solids, you can modify the property file as below.

Installation in Native Mode

• Install step by step
• Double-click MachineryLibrary-Installation.bat to start the installation.
• Select the language,
• checking the check-box. And click on NEXT
• Specify the type of environment. Choose Native mode to install in Native mode.
• Specify installation type. Choose Create new installation.
• Choose the libraries to be installed.
• Specify the installation path. All libraries will be installed in this path.
• Click install. To start the installation.
• After completion of installation. Check the installation path
• Start the Nx.
• Go to Customer Defaults>> Go to Reuse library
• Provide the folder Name(Machinery Library) and path. In between the folder name and path provide pipe symbol. Place the forward slashes in the path.
• Restart the Nx to apply the customer defaults.
• Now check in reuse library.

Installation in Teamcenter mode

Install step by step
Double-click MachineryLibrary-Installation.bat to start the installation.

• Select the language,
• checking the checkbox. And click on NEXT
• Specify the environment: Managed mode or Teamcenter mode.
• Click next, then specify the user name and password. Click on Login.
• Specify installation type: “Create a new installation”
• Choose the libraries to be installed. And click on Next.
• Specify the Item type for family template and family member and specify how to generate the item ID.
• User can use default “Item” type or specify other Item type before installation, such as “Part Family” and so on. Template Item ID must be generated by Teamcenter Naming Rule.
• If user chooses “Generated by Teamcenter Naming Rule” to define members’ Item ID, the Installation tool will modify the DB_PART_NO of part family member spreadsheet according to Teamcenter Naming Rule during the installation process.
• If user chooses “As Default”, the Installation tool will not change DB_PART_NO of part family
member spreadsheet.
• Specify the install path of NX
• Library folder structure, specify the installation path [library root folder]. The default path is: <User>: [Home, Machinery Library]
• Review all configuration and click on installation.
• After installation completion. Check in Teamcenter. Machinery Library Folder will be created under Home
• Start the Nx from Teamcenter.
• Go to Customer Defaults>> Go to Reuse library
• Provide the folder Name (Machinery Library) and Teamcenter path.
• Restart the Nx, To apply customer defaults.
• Now, The Machinery Library is available in reuse library.
